Manuel Acuña
Director
Manuel Acuña trabaja como director y cinefotógrafo de cine, originario de Guadalajara, Jal. México. Egresado de Comunicación y Artes Audiovisuales por el ITESO y con una Maestría en Documental de Creación por la EICTV en Cuba. Sus películas han sido exhibidas internacionalmente, en festivales como el FICG, Chicago Latino FF, FICM, Doc Buenos Aires, Zanate, Ambulante. En el 2020 su cortometraje Expiatorio, obtuvo el premio al mejor cortometraje documental en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Guanajuato y al mejor cortometraje iberoamericano en el FIC Quito, en Ecuador. Actualmente se encuentra realizando su ópera prima El Silencio De Mis Manos, película que cuenta con el apoyo de DocsMx, Comisión Fílmica de Jalisco, GoodPitch, Tribeca All Access y por el IDA’s Netflix Global Emerging Filmmaker Award, convirtiéndolo en el primer beneficiado de este fondo.
Manuel Acuña works as a film director and cinematographer, from Guadalajara, Jal. Mexico. He graduated in Communication and Audiovisual Arts from ITESO and with a Master's Degree in Creation Documentary from EICTV in Cuba. His films have been exhibited internationally, at festivals such as FICG, Doqumenta, FICM, Doc Buenos Aires, Zanate. In 2020 he made his short film Expiatorio (Scapegoat), the winning film for the best documentary short film at the Guanajuato International Film Festival and for the best Ibero-American short film at the FIC Quito, in Ecuador. He is currently making his debut feature The Silence Of My Hands, a documentary feature film that has the support of DocsMx, Jalisco Film Commission, GoodPitch, Tribeca All Access and by the IDA's Netflix Global Emerging Filmmaker Award, making him the first recipient of this fund.
